Academic Pentathlon (Curricular)


The Academic Pentathlon is made of teams of 7th and 8th grade students who represent a wide diversity fo academic backgrounds.  Each grade-level team includes 9 student competitors and 2-3 alternates, based upon GPA from the previous academic year (Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity).  The team allows middle school students an opportunity to experience the benefits of Academic Decathlon before entering high school.  Teams are selected in November and meet once a week until the April event.  Categories of competition include Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts/Literature, Fine Arts, and Super Quiz.  Announcements and Tryouts will be released in November, with details being posted to the Fowler Pentathlon website

Board Game Club (Non-Curricular)

The Board Game Club is for students who are interested in all things gaming!  Board Game Club meets regularly as a time to socialize and strategize with friends.

Cheerleading (Co-Curricular)

Fowler Cheer consists of 7th grade and 8th grade squads of approximately 12 members each.  Try-outs for the following year take place in the early spring.  Cheerleaders are responsible for attending an providing spirit for pep rallies, football games, basketball games, and they represent Fowler at all times.  Please see Mrs. Bianchin or Mrs. Jackson with any questions.

Drama Club (Curricular)

Fowler's Drama Club, The Fowler Fantasticks, is open to all students here at FMS.  It's a great way to keep "plugged in" to everything going on in the Theatre Arts.  In our monthly meetings we will discuss current auditions, productions, and theatre opportunities.  We will also learn theatre games and techniques to better our craft. Meetings will be held bi-monthly, and we will be voting on club officers soon. Visit the Clubs and Troupes section on the Fowler Theatre website for further information.

Falcon Friends, An Inclusive Friendship Club (Non-Curricular)

Membership Requirements:

Parental consent and an application are required.  Further information about applying for the Falcon Friends program will be distributed at the beginning of the school year.


Falcon Friends fosters one-to-one friendships between students with and without IDD.  In all of the friendship programs, a person with an IDD is matched one-to-one with a person without IDD.  Students with IDD are often isolated and left out of social activities.  Falcon Friends helps to create an inclusive school climate for student early on their educational development.

FCA (Non-Curricular)

FCA stand for Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  It is an organization run by 8th grade student leaders.  Any Fowler student 6th-8th grade is welcome to attend.  Each FCA meeting will start off with a time of fellowship where students can participate in open gym playing basketball, volleyball or hanging out with their friends on the side.  We will have a student led devotional the second half of each meeting.  The purpose of FCA is to foster authentic friendships and to learn more about the Christian faith.

Girls STEM Club (Co-Curricular) 

The FMS Girl's STEM Club is open to any 7th and 8th grade girls, by application process only beginning 2021-2022 school year.  Girls interested in science, technology, engineering and math, we'd love to have you!  Students will be given the opportunity to explore elements of STEM, including coding languages like JavaScript and HTML, robotics, circuitry, and more!  We will be updating the website and membership during the first semester.

Green Leadership Team (Curricular)

Membership Requirements:

The Green Leadership Team works to create a "green" environment at Fowler Middle School.  This includes working on different projects throughout the year, such as the Green Team garden, assisting with recycling at lunch, learning how to incorporate environmentally-friendly behaviors into daily life, and encouraging others to be more environmentally-friendly.  The Green Leadership Team meets once a month after school on Tuesdays.

International Junior Thespian Society (Curricular)

The International Junior Thespian Society (IJTS) is an honor society for theatre students.  Membership is granted for the performance of meritorious work in theatre arts.  Students in grades 6-8 who have earned a minimum of 10 points over the course of at least two productions are eligible for induction in the Spring semester.  Points are given based on the official IJTS point system which awards points for the amount of work and level of dedication the student has shown during the participation in productions, theatre classes, and other theatre activities.  Students who are inducted into IJTS in middle school will be able to carry forward 5 points to high school towards becoming a member of the International Thespian Society.

Library Lunch Bunch (Curricular)

Three times each semester, students will meet in the library during lunch for a fun book-related activity.  Each event will have a separate sign-up sheet, and will be advertised on the announcements.  Students are welcome to attend any or all of the events.

**Math and Science Team (Curricular)**

Moving forward for 21-22, we, as Frisco ISD, will be looking at Academic UIL as a competition to potentially replace the Math/Science team.  This competition competes locally and aligns to the high school competitions.  We recognize the importance of offering STEM related competitions to our students and will prioritize identifying the best competition for our middle school students for the 21-22 school year."

National Junior Honor Society (Co-Curricular)

Membership Requirements:

National Junior Honor Society is open to qualified students in 7th and 8th grade.  To be eligible for membership, a student must have attended Frisco middle school for the full semester prior to consideration and have a 94 average in the core subjects for the fall semester which they just completed.  Selection for membership is based on an application process, which focuses on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, service and citizenship.  Eligible students will be invited to apply for membership in the Spring semester.  Dues are $5.00 per year.  More information can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CY4rtXoIfNYgp95sgg-m4YIRbAdXgU7kDXbhn1XI1B0/edit

Poetry and Prose Club (Curricular)

The Poetry and Prose Club is for students who want to have fun creating their own original poetry and prose.  Students can also explore the works of various published authors and poets.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to have their own work submitted for publication in literary magazines.  The club is open to students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Spanish Club (Curricular)

The Spanish Club broadens students' knowledge of the Spanish culture and its festivities.  Members get the opportunity to celebrate some of the holidays taking place in Spanish-speaking countries around the world.  They will also be able to watch Spanish movies, enjoy cooking activities, participate in fun arts and craft workshops, listen to Spanish music and learn about Spanish art.  The club activities are student generated, driven and planned.

Student Counci (Co-Curricular)

Membership Requirements:

Elections for 7th and 8th grade representatives will be held at the end of the school year, and elections for 6th grade will be held during the second nine weeks of the following school year.  Students must have 80+ average and no disciplinary actions by teachers.  Each grade (6th, 7th and 8th) shall be represented by eight (8) elected representatives.
